Auburn Twitter takes victory lap after beating Texas A&M football for WR transfer

The Tigers tried to not-so-subtly rub it in after beating out the Aggies for a receiver transfer.

Official Auburn Twitter trolls Texas A&M football after WR commit; Aggies hilariously respond in kind

No matter if you’re a fan of Texas A&M football or any other program, it always stings just a little bit to lose out on a big time recruitment. Normally, though, there’s not quite this level of sniping via official social media channels, but we live in ever-changing times!

Earlier today, a portal WR target for the Aggies, KeAndre Lambert-Smith of Penn State, committed to Auburn. The Aggies and Tigers were the two it came down to for the prolific former Nittany Lion, but he ended up opting to go with Hugh Freeze and Auburn rather than coming to College Station. That’s no fun, sure, but A&M will be fine—they’re involved in at least one more high-profile portal receiver recruitment that could help bolster the roster.

Upon the news breaking, however, the official Auburn football account decided to make a not-so-subtle point. They tweeted out this video, taken in the 2013 season, of Sammie Coates and De’Vante Harris:

Point made.

In the words of the philosopher, though, “this aggression will not stand, man.” Aggie fans were quick to respond to this obvious jab from an official Auburn channel.

There are certain teams against which a given program has a lot of ammunition. Auburn is one of those teams for Texas A&M football, as you can tell from the above responses.

As it happens, the Aggies and Tigers will meet in the penultimate game of the regular season this upcoming fall. A&M has won three out of their last four versus the Tigers, but I’m sure this is the type of thing that will be remembered and used as bulletin board material at that point.

It’s easy to talk a big game in April and May—the Aggies are well-familiar with this fact, given that their rivals are the champions of doing so. When you hit the gridiron to actually match up, however, things are a different story. I’m excited to see how things go on November 23rd.
