Auburn Tigers News: Tre Donaldson commits to Michigan, DL Philip Blidi commits to Auburn

In today’s edition of Auburn Tigers News, former Auburn basketball guard Tre Donaldson commits to Michigan and Auburn football lands former Indiana defensive lineman Philip Blidi

A trio of former Auburn basketball guards have officially announced their transfer destinations. Aden Holloway will play next season at Alabama, KD Johnson will play next season at George Mason, and Tre Donaldson has finally declared he will play for Michigan.

Donaldson was a 4-star point guard out of high school and played to years with the Tigers. In the 2023-2024 season, he averaged 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game and traded off with Holloway for starting duties throughout the season.

He entered the transfer portal on April 3, and this weekend’s commitment makes Donaldson the fourth player to commit to the Wolverines in the rebuild by Dusty May.

Auburn football lands former Indiana defensive lineman Philip Blidi

Over the weekend, the Auburn football program landed their first commitment following spring practice. Former Indiana defensive lineman Philip Blidi was offered by the Tigers on March 25, and made his way to the Plains for an official visit the weekend of April 15.

The grad transfer played his first three years of football at Texas Tech before transferring to Indiana for his best season yet, recording 30 tackles and four tackles for loss. He was also pursued by LSU, Washington, and Oklahoma, but canceled his visit to Norman after spending time on Auburn’s campus.

Blidi is a massive pickup for the Auburn football defense in their effort to replace the lost talent from last season, and is the third defensive line transfer for the Tigers in the offseason alongside Gage Keys and Trill Carter. He brings another veteran presence to a position group full of young potential talent. The Tigers will still be expected to bring in more transfers from the portal.
